You may recognize this skirt... Probably because just about every girl with a tumblr owns one. In case you didn't already know, its from American Apparel.
I was fortunate enough to see American Apparel in action. During my time in Los Angeles I visited one of their factories. It was a weekend, so they were not actually manufacturing clothes.. Or at least not that I could see.
They have a whole giant room dedicated to marked down clothes due to "damages" during their assembling. The funny thing is when you looked at the clothes, you could barely tell anything was wrong with them at all. So I took advantage of this little commercial flea market. It was every hipsters dream.
